Gas Prices Up
Even though gas in our area is some of the cheapest in the nation, some drivers have been getting sticker shock at the pump in the last week.
"It's definitely gone up," says Deidre Robinson, a fitness facility owner in Greenville.
According to price watch website GasBuddy.com, prices nationwide and in our area are up at least 4% in just the past week.
"It does make me not do as much casual driving, but you still gotta go to work, still gotta run your errands," says Robinson.
AAA agent Stacey Fish says the recent uptick is due to the recent regime change in the Middle East.
"Inventory in the US is low, so that's gonna create a factor, but the unrest in Egypt is a little more of a factor than it was before."
Despite the recent increase, AAA says they're not seeing a decrease in summer road trips yet. With crude oil futures at over $106 a barrel as of Monday's close, the recent upward trend is likely to continue for now.
