Wednesday Morning Traffic Recap

UPDATE (9:00 AM): Lanes now open on I-240 westbound on Patton Avenue at Jackson's curve, where a truck pulling a trailer jackknifed. Seeing slow traffic now.

UPDATE (8:45 AM): Jackknifed truck pulling trailer on I-240 westbound. It's on Patton Avenue in Asheville, at Jackson's curve. Both lanes are blocked. No injuries reported.

UPDATE (7:25 AM): Asheville police tell us the traffic lights are now functioning on Patton Avenue and power has been restored to some businesses along Deaverview Road and Bear Creek Road. Progress Energy still working to restore power completely.

UPDATE (7:45 AM): The earlier wreck on Brevard Road near the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway is now clear. The power lines have also been restored in that area. The road is no longer blocked.

Power lines are down and numerous traffic lights are out on Patton Avenue in Asheville, near Sky-lanes Bowling Alley, at Rumbough Place. Asheville Police say nearly 800 people are without power. They believe a major transformer has blown. Avoid this area if possible this morning. Progress Energy has been notified and is in route to the scene.

A wreck on Brevard Road in Asheville south of the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance is in the final stages of clean-up. It happened just before 5:30 this morning. Highway Patrol tell us there are also power lines down in this same area, but it isn't related to the wreck. This section of Brevard Road is closed. If you're traveling south of Bent Creek along Brevard Road, take an alternate route this morning.
