Beaverdam Flash Flooding
One of the hardest hit areas for rain and flooding tonight is North Asheville in the Beaverdam Road area.
The Beaverdam Fire Department took a big hit, suffering thousands of dollars in damages. The Beaverdam Creek rushed over its banks and into the department's basement around 8 p.m. Wednesday. Three feet of water flooded in just about 15 minutes.
Firefighters say the water sat for an hour, then receded. Flood damage has put the Beaverdam station out of commission for at least a couple of days while crews clean up. This is the first time this station has flooded. The creek isn't known for running over its banks.
