Asheville Newspaper Layoffs
The Asheville Citizen-Times laid-off eight staffers Wednesday, including well known blogger-reporter Jason Sandford and long time columnist Susan Reinhardt.
Sandford tells News 13 the job cuts were announced by the paper's parent company, Gannett, Wednesday morning.
Reinhardt worked for the Citizen-Times for more than 25 years. She says she's shocked and saddened.
Susan Reinhardt, former Citizen-Times columnist, "I love the people here. I feel like I've done a good job. I've helped with animal causes. I've helped people who have cancer get the money for their surgeries. I just feel like I made a difference in the 26 and a half years. And I'm really just going to miss all my, my readers."
The newspaper reported Wednesday night the following story:
"The Asheville Citizen-Times laid off eight people Wednesday as part of a workforce reduction at its parent company, Gannett.
The layoffs included six newsroom employees and were made in response to business conditions and advertising trends."
