Fire Chief Arrested for DWI
A local fire chief is charged with driving drunk in a fire station vehicle.
Officers arrested Enka-Candler Fire Chief Tim Rayburn Wednesday afternoon. Rayburn is also listed as the Black Mountain Vice Mayor.
The Asheville Police Department and the Highway Patrol both say they received reports from motorists about Rayburn driving erratically.
Investigators say Rayburn blew a point-30, that's almost four times the legal limit.
The Black Mountain town manager says Rayburn is up for re-election as Alderman in November and has served on the town council for 4 years. He's also a retired Black Mountain fire chief who left their department in 2008 and took over the chief position in Enka shortly after.
