UPDATE: Search For Gun Following Manhunt

Asheville Police say investigators are still looking for the gun involved in an incident on Butler Road in South Asheville Wednesday morning. Police say the gun could be anywhere from Butler Road off Long Shoals Road to Biltmore Park, where the suspect was later found.

Police say Kenneth Dwayne Sherlin, 29, showed up unannounced at his father's house on Butler Road and was acting strangely. They say Sherlin pulled out a handgun, pointed it at his father and threatened him. The father then called Sherlin's mother, and she made the call to 911. Before police arrived, Sherlin fled on foot with the gun. Police say he managed to travel to the Biltmore Park area and officers apprehended him near P.F. Changs.

Sherlin is currently going through involuntary commitment right now. Police say he has a long criminal history and he is a convicted felon. He has not yet been charged.

The Asheville Police Department, Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, Highway Patrol, ALE and Biltmore Park Security were all involved in the search. Canines were used as well.
