Standing Up To Bullying
A Haywood County family says school leaders aren't doing enough to stop the bullying of their son.
Eric and Becca Bowen say one student has been bullying their son, Hunter, for years. They say after an incident last month at Bethel Middle School, the student received two days of in-school suspension.
The family claims the student threatened to beat up and kill their son. But school officials say those threats are rumors that surfaced a week later and are unsubstantiated.
Hunter is now proposing a "Bully to Buddies" program.
"Where you have to eat like lunch and stuff with the bully and make it where you all start to become buddies," said Hunter.
All parties agree its education that will teach tolerance and acceptance.
