Fresh Market Sidewalk Sale
This weekend, a major grocery store chain is trying to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes.
The 19th Annual Fresh Market Sidewalk Sale benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Hot dogs, root beer floats and ice cream sundaes were sold for $2 each, with all the money raised going to support efforts to create a world without type 1 diabetes.
That's something Wendy Billingsley desperately wants, her son has been battling the disease for six-years.
Wendy Billingsley, "my son has had diabetes since he was four and we are hopeful. Things are happening in diabetes and these proceeds are helpful in terms of our research and developing an artificial pancreas for our kid. It makes me very happy to know these folks are doing this for us."
In addition to the sidewalk sale, Fresh Market is accepting donations at checkout counters.
The benefit ended Sunday.
