Camp Hope Fundraising
A mountain music festival Saturday has a dual purpose.
The Shining Rock Riverfest in Haywood County will raise money to improve Camp Hope near Cruso.
Money raised will also go to the Town of Canton's legal defense fund.
An Asheville couple sued the town, saying it violated the mandate of the camp by allowing it to be used by a weight-loss organization.
Thats because it's supposed to be used by the community instead.
In May, a jury found in favor of Canton, but John and Deborah Prelaz are appealing.
Festival organizer Tracy ONeil says, We're just hopeful that this is a positive experience that kind of overshadows all the negativity of the trial.
ONeil says nine bands will play mountain folk music between 1 and 10 pmall for just seven bucks.
Children under12 get in free.
ONeil says the Shining Rock Riverfest is dedicated to the Armed Forces.
