Spike in Burglaries
A small west Asheville community is living in fear following a rash of burglaries. The latest victim says he believes they're targeting their neighborhood, breaking into three homes over the past month and a half on his street alone. Public records show at least eight burglaries on or near Sand Hill School Road since July within a quarter mile radius.
Adam Edmonds says they came in through a locked window sometime Tuesday in broad daylight, ransacking his home, taking a TV, breaking into a safe, stealing jewelry and cash valued at more than $10,000.
One neighbor we spoke to says she and her husband are now talking about a home security system and arming themselves with a gun. She says it's scary to think people can get away with this all during the middle of the day.
News 13 contacted Asheville Police for comment on this story. However, there was no response before this story was published.
