Police-Involved Shooting Investigation
A former high school football star is killed by a police officer after they say he ran away after burglarizing a home.
Police say Alexander Marion, also known as A.J., was shot when he would not comply with their demands to stop. Marion was a running back that helped the A.C. Reynolds Rockets win a state championship in 2011. He suffered a knee injury in his senior year that sidelined his career.
School officials at A.C. Reynolds offered counseling for students and team members who played with Marion.
His mother says she doesn't understand what happened. She says the A.J. that the police were chasing is not the young man she knew.
The investigation is now in the hands of the S.B.I. This was not A.J.s first brush with the law. He was scheduled for a court date in November, charged with DWI and other misdemeanors.
