In-Home Aide Program Cut
Transylvania Regional Hospital is ending its in-home aide program November 1st. That will affect 38 workers.
The hospital's CEO says the hospital is getting ready to lose up to $18 million over the next decade. That's because of Medicare reimbursement cuts in the Affordable Care Act and state Medicaid cuts. He tells News 13 the hospital is trying to re-position employees within the hospital and at in-home care providers in the area like Compassionate Home Care and Bayada Home Health Care.
"They're outstanding employees and we want to make sure as we work with them they land on their feet," says Bob Bednarek.
Bednarek also says patients always have the option of contracting directly with their caregivers.
