CNA Accused Of Trafficking Pills
The Madison County Sheriff says a caregiver confessed to pocketing her patient's prescription pills.
As a CNA, Catherine Cook of Del Rio, Tennessee had the health of 88-year-old Frances Gosnell in her hands. Investigators say she violated that trust.
Charges against Cook include three counts of trafficking opiates and three counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
Sheriff Buddy Harwood says Cook was caring for Mrs. Gosnell, who had back surgery earlier this year.
According to investigators, the hydrocodone prescribed hasn't been administered to the patient in months.
Sheriff Harwood says Gosnell was getting Tylenol instead.
"At the end of the day, she took those hydrocodone and used those for self gain and didn't give it to a lady in severe pain and needed that medication," Sheriff Harwood says. "It's very tragic, very sad."
