Governor Visits Plants
Workers in Yancey County factories hear from Governor Pat McCrory about bigger paychecks that are coming soon. Thats because of a 2% drop in the income taxes they will pay next year.
The governor stopped at the Altec Plant near Burnsville Monday and told 450 workers that over two years, tax cuts approved by the legislature will result in more money for workers. Hes meeting with plant managers and workers across the state, listening to how the government can help businesses grow and add jobs.
At the Glen Raven Plant, workers say the paycheck increase will increase their spending in the community. They hope that will improve the countys economy. Plant managers also say that pay raises that result from a tax cut make workers more confident about their jobs and raise expectations that the economy is improving.
