EPA Grant Related To CTS Cleanup
A local community group gets money to help with the ongoing cleanup efforts at the contaminated CTS site in South Asheville. The EPA has given the Power Action Group a grant of $50,000. The money will be used to hire a technical advisor to interpret reports, as well as educating community members about health and environmental issues related to the property. The CTS plant shut down 27 years ago. Since then, testing has found high levels of toxic chemicals at the property on Mills Gap Road and in the well water of nearby homes. As News 13 has reported, a new round of EPA testing is currently underway at the site.
