6 Killed In Murder-Suicide
Six people are dead, including two children, after a man commits a shocking murder-suicide in the Upstate. Deputies say Bryan Sweatt killed his girlfriend, her mother and step-father and two of her nephews.
Deputies say Bryan Sweatt entered the Greenwood home Tuesday afternoon and was waiting for his girlfriend, Chandra Fields, and her family. When they arrived, he apparently barricaded himself in the home. He told 911 operators he was armed with a large caliber handgun, then he hung up. At some point he ordered four children playing in the yard to go to a neighbor's house. When they arrived, the neighbor called 911 and reported that one of the children said Sweatt had killed her mother.
The SWAT team arrived and tried repeatedly to get a response from anyone in the house. When that failed, they took action.
"Upon entering the residence we found six bodies, two were children, four were adults. This incident stems from a domestic violence incident, again, all individuals were deceased," said Sheriff Tony Davis.
The sheriff says Sweatt had a history of loud arguments with Chandra Fields. He was apparently upset with custody orders for their child.
The deceased are her stepfather Richard Fields, her mother Melissa Fields, and her two nephews, 11-year-old Tariq and 9-year-old Asa Robinson. Bryan Sweat killed himself.
