Tennessee Highway Patrol says a church bus blew a tire, veered across the median, hitting an SUV and a tractor trailer. The bus, carrying a senior church group from Statesville, flipped over and the truck burst into flames. Troopers say six of the people killed were on the bus. Others killed include the driver of the truck and another person in the SUV.
The brother of the bus driver who died works as sales manager at American Garage company in Transylvania County. His coworkers are mourning the loss of Randy Morrison and his wife, Barbara. They've been helping Michael Morrison deal with the tragedy. He left today to be with his family at the Statesville church Randy attended and served as bus driver for the congregation. Coworkers say they're urging the community to help victims families with funeral expenses by making donations to the Front Street Baptist Church in Statesville.
