Patton Avenue Sidewalk Work

The city of Asheville began work today to replace sidewalks on the south side of Patton Avenue. Work will take place between Biltmore and Lexington Avenues in Downtown Asheville.

The project has been identified as a priority due to the growth of tree roots and wear on the sidewalks. The project will include replacing "street trees" along the route, and the closure of both the sidewalk and the adjacent travel lane.

The replacement is expected to take approximately 5 weeks, weather permitting. The work will include installation of new tree pits that will allow for trees to grow larger root systems without damaging the sidewalks.
