National Walk to School Day
Kids in our area, and across the country hit the streets this morning as part of a push to get them active.
We caught up with one of the groups from Claxton Elementary in Asheville as they took part in National Walk to School Day.
The event encourages cuts down on traffic, builds a sense of community, teaches safety, and has other benefits as well.
Jake Jackson, 2nd grade, "it helps with your exercise."
Julie Sabo, parent, "I think it's important for her to get out and get some fresh air."
Organizers of the national event say walking to school also cuts the cost of school transportation for the districts, communities, and families.
