Wind Sparks Power Outages
Downed trees and power lines cover mountain roads, as powerful winds cause power outages the day before the big Thanksgiving holiday.
It started Wednesday morning when part of Brevard Road in Arden was closed thanks to a fallen power line. In South Asheville the whipping lines caused alarm from officials. One fell across the road, thankfully avoiding any passing cars. And an entire tree sparked power outages in the Royal Pines neighborhood.
Officials say Henderson County was hit harder than Buncombe with a number of isolated wind-related outages. One caused a power outage for mother Sierra Hamblin of Hendersonville.
"We came home from the store and we were going to bake," says Hamblin, " And we couldn't!"
If your power goes out, it is important to report the outage to your power provider.
