Leicester Double Homicide Investigation

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the James Drive homicide investigation.

Vincent Thomas Wesley Franklin, 25, of 117 James Drive in Leicester has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Franklin is the son and step-son of the two victims.

Deputies say 45 year-old Joy Runne and 44 year-old Andre Runne died from gunshot wounds.

Their bodies where discovered at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at their home on James Road in the Leicester community.

"We had a family member that came to James Drive to check on some family people, and found two deceased people there at the residence. The Sheriff's Office responded, we determined pretty quickly that this was a homicide, and we also had a vehicle missing from the residence," said Sheriff Van Duncan.

A short time later, deputies found a truck that had been taken from the residence.

The Waffle House issued the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened by the news of Joy Jensen. She was a beloved member of the Waffle House family for nearly 20 years and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this difficult time. "

Franklin was also charged in a stabbing at the Econo Lodge on Tunnel Road in Asheville. Franklin was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving. Two people were wounded. Franklin himself was also stabbed and was later arrested after crashing his car into a utility pole on Patton Avenue. Police say he admitted to drug use, but they have not released a motive for the stabbing.
