Toys for Tots Tractor Run
Farm equipment did the heavy-lifting for some local kids Saturday at the Toys for Tots Tractor Run.
About 40 classic-and-contemporary tractors paraded down Highway-191 in Mills River.
It was a slow procession, about ten-miles-an-hour, ending at Jackson Park in Hendersonville.
The event was a success thanks to the agricultural community, folks donated 137 toys and more than $500.
Aaron Martin, organizer, "it took a lot of time and effort but it's something near and dear to my heart. I remember what it was like to wake up to a Christmas tree full of presents and I think every child in this county and this country deserves that."
Of course, Toys for Tots is a long-time tradition backed by US Marines.
This is the first year for the tractor-run.
