WWII Vet Renews Vows After 72 Years
A World War II veteran who took an oath 72 years ago to defend America celebrated another vow he took so long ago. He renewed his wedding vows with his wife on their 72nd anniversary.
Merle Watts wore his World War II uniform jacket as he and his wife, Louise, renewed their vows. It was a wedding celebration they never. Shortly after they got married at a courthouse all those years ago, Merle shipped out overseas.
The couple has had their share of challenges. Louise has dementia. But their family says they are as committed and loving to each other as they were 72 years ago
