Artist's Death Ruled Homicide

Asheville Police now say the death of a local artist is a homicide.

Christopher Ortega's body was found in his North Asheville apartment on October 28th. At the time, police called it a suspicious death. Autopsy results show he died of asphyxiation, but investigators aren't saying what caused it.

Ortega's employer, Alan's Jewelry and Pawn, is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or Crime Stoppers at 828-255-5050.
