Deadly Wreck Guilty Plea
An Asheville man charged in a crash that killed his 3-year-old daughter has pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
David Jones plead guilty Monday afternoon to assault with a deadly weapon, involuntary manslaughter, hit and run, and driving with a revoked license.
Police say Jones was speeding last December when his car went off an embankment and crashed into the Asheville City Public Works area.
His daughter, 3-year-old Maddie, was riding in the back seat and was killed. A Public Works employee was seriously injured.
Jones was in Court Monday for sentencing but because of lengthy victim impact statements and additional materials submitted by both the prosecution and defense to the Judge, sentencing was moved to Tuesday morning at 9:30am.
