Remains Identified as Missing Woman
Human remains found Thursday night in the James Drive area of Leicester have been positively identified as those of 23-year-old Cheyenne VanTreese of Asheville.
VanTreese was reported missing on November 5th, but her family says she hadn't been seen since the beginning of October.
The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the cause of death at this time. The remains were found during the investigation into a double homicide in the same area.
Vincent Franklin is in jail, charged with first degree murder in the deaths of Joy and Andre Runne, his mother and step-father. Their bodies were discovered on Wednesday.
At a press conference Friday afternoon, Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan said their investigation into the double homicide led them back to the James Drive area in the search of possible remains.
He also said VanTreese and Franklin were in a relationship and had a child together.
The sheriffs office says the investigation is still ongoing.
