AIDS Memorial Quilt in Asheville
Honoring the dead and celebrating survivors through stories told by the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Part of the famous display is installed at the Renaissance Hotel in Asheville on Sunday for World AIDS Day.
A Tapestry of Lives is a memorial to lives lost, also people living with HIV and the families, friends and caregivers affected.
There are squares that were made by local people who've lost loved ones.
Bobbie Laratta, Arden, "I just wanted to remember those people that so many people forgot and it's so obvious when you look at these panels that these people were so special to their families and their friends. "
This is the fifth year sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt were brought to Asheville. It's the largest display in the state.
The exhibit closes Monday at 7:00 pm.
