Child Neglect Arrest
A local mother trying to make ends meet is devastated to find out the father of their three children is charged with child neglect.
43-year-old Daniel Lind is accused of leaving the couple's 3-year-old, 17-month-old, and 7-month-old alone in their home for hours.
Katrise Davis says she trusted Lind to watch the kids while she was at work. She tells News 13 she works 16 hour days to pay the bills. All she wanted to do is give her children a normal life and now she feels she has failed them.
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office received a tip Thursday night and responded to Beehive View Lane. When deputies arrived at the house, they found three young children inside and alone. Investigators say the children were able to track down their mother at work. She told authorities, their father, Daniel Lind was supposed to be watching them.
Davis tells News 13 she feels like a horrible mother and fears this may not be the only time Lind has left them.
"I mean, he's messed up before. He's done stupid stuff, but nothing like this. This is by far the stupidest thing he's done and the most hurtful," said Davis.
Lind was arrested after deputies located him walking near Ingles on US-64. Why he left the children alone is still unknown. Lind is currently incarcerated in the Henderson County Detention Facility under $3000 secured bond.
The sheriff's office says DSS has been contacted.
