Burnsville Man Shot, Killed By Ex-Wife
A Yancey County woman is charged with first-degree murder after admitting to authorities she shot and killed her ex-husband
When deputies first got the call around 9 p.m. Wednesday, they were dispatched to a reported suicide but as their investigation got going, they discovered that wasn't the case.
Robyn Morrow, 41, later confessed to detectives she murdered her ex-husband, William Morrow Junior.
Investigators say after she allegedly shot him in the head, she ran to a neighbors house and told them he killed himself. His body was found on the bedroom floor of his home off Cove Mountain Road. Neighbors say the two had recently started spending time together because William was helping Robyn with some medical issues.
Authorities say the couple did have a history of domestic violence and may have had a disagreement earlier that night. The sheriff's office though does not know at this time if that was the reason behind Wednesday's murder.
Sheriff Gary Banks says William Morrow was a retired marine and his family was very proud of his accomplishments.
Robyn Morrow is being held without bond.
