Doctors Return From Helping Typhoon Victims
Two mountain doctors are home after spending two weeks in the Philippines. Doctor Obie Cuento and Doctor Ellen Lawson of the Sisters of Mercy helped hundreds of Typhoon Haiyan victims in the city of Tacloban. They worked in a flooded hospital, often without electricity, and never had running water. At night, the doctors slept in church pews, in a church missing part of it's roof and walls.
They were still retrieving bodies. The church we were staying at, there were ten parishioners still missing, and the pastor's brother was still missing," said Dr. Ellen Lawson of Sisters of Mercy.
The doctors say despite the tragedy, the overall attitude of the victims was positive. They urge people not to forget the victims.
