Ellenboro Violent Dispute
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office has released the names of several people involved in a violent domestic dispute in Ellenboro.
Officials say an argument at a home on Race Path Church Road escalated into a physical fight between Timmy Smith and Jeff Conner around 2:30PM Sunday afternoon.
They say Tommy Smith was trying to leave with Timmy when he ran over Geneine Conner with his car.
That's when the sheriff's office says Geneine's husband, Ralph, fired a shot through the car's windshield, striking Tommy in the chest.
Geneine Conner was taken to Cleveland Regional in Shelby with non-life-threatening leg and hip injuries.
Tommy Smith was flown to Mission Hospital in Asheville, where he underwent surgery.
Neighbors, like Katherine Bradley say it was scary to hear gunfire in her otherwise quiet neighborhood.
"It has to be a high powered rifle or something 'cause, it was loud, just pow pow pow", she says.
The case is still under investigation.
There is no direct relationship between the gentleman who was shot and the female who was run over.
"We want to make sure this is investigated fully before any arrests are made", says Rutherford County Sheriff Chris Francis.
