Pearl Habor Day
A local WW II veteran remembers the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Craig Kirkpatrick was 19 and a sailor of the USS Castor when the Japanese bombed Pearl Habor. Kirkpatrick says a plane flew so close to his ship he could see the pilot and gunner. Kirkpatrick describes it as one of the longest days of his life. "I thought...well...they've really caught us sleeping," he said.
Kirkpatrick is now 94 and living with his wife in Hendersonville. He has written 3 books about his time in the Navy.
