West Asheville Housing Plans Concerns

A planned development near the French Broad River in West Asheville is causing concern among those who live nearby.

The developer says he'll build homes right into the incline on Amboy Road. Jay Fiano admits his development plan may look difficult at first glance . Down a steep incline looking out on the French Broad River, Fiano plans to build ten green homes.

Riverlink is the nonprofit supporting good land development along the French Broad River. Joshua Martin, another neighbor, says people love living in West Asheville because of it's beauty, access to parks, the river and the fact he says it's safe.

Next Tuesday, the developer and his partners will hold an open question and answer meeting at 6 p.m. at Riverlink's warehouse studio office at 170 Lyman street.

Fiano says he plans to have his engineer speak at the meeting, but neighbors news 13 spoke to say they really have questions they wish to direct to him.
