Governor Perry Visits Greenville
Texas Governor Rick Perry was in the Upstate Wednesday to help raise funds for a local boy scout group. The former presidential candidate said his experience as an Eagle Scout helped shape his life. Perry spoke out against an overreaching federal government and keeping power in the states. He wouldn't say whether he will run for president again in 2016, saying Republicans should focus on next year's midterm elections.
"Making sure that we get those really committed, fiscal conservative, free-market governors elected across this country is where we need to be focused for the next year. Get 2015 open and going and we can have that conversation about 2016 then," said Perry.
Perry spoke at a few other fundraisers between Spartanburg and Greenville in the past two days.
