Heating Problems At Old Haywood Courthouse

It was so cold overnight, some heating units inside the old Haywood County Courthouse in Waynesville couldn't keep up. The head of the Facilities and Maintenance Department says five units gave out due to low pressure.

Dale Burris says the units are not designed for such low temperatures. He says crews responded before dawn to fix the problem.

"Get the systems re-set up and going.  Went ahead and put some auxiliary oil-filled radiant heaters in just for temporary use today until the temperature rises enough to make sure the system's going to catch up with itself," said Burris.

Burris says even without the five units working, the lowest temperature recorded in an office this morning was 58.
