UPDATE: School Bus Caught On Camera
McDowell County School District says the driver of the bus caught on camera running two stop signs, is no longer driving that bus.
In a statement Thursday, Executive Administrator Brian Oliver said: There will be no comment as to the bus number or the name of the driver.
The school district launched the investigation after two videos have surfaced, appearing to show a school bus running stop signs.
The local resident that shot the videos says one was recorded Monday morning, the second one taken Thursday. Each of the videos is under 40 seconds long, and the photographer says that each was recorded moments after the bus picked up high school students and middle schoolers at a stop on Lackey Town Road in Old Fort.
The videos are nearly identical to one another, showing the bus rolling through a stop sign approaching the three-way intersection at Lackey Town Road and Old Fort - Sugar Hill Road.
The resident that recorded the footage wanted to remain anonymous but told News 13:
"The reason I took the video was I felt the drive was putting the kids life at risk that are on that bus. If something were to happen and I felt it could have been prevented I would have felt guilty. I have just seen the drive doing this so much and if shes doing this what more could the driver be doing. "
