Clement House Preserved

A home in Asheville once owned by the first woman elected to the North Carolina General Assembly is forever protected.

The historic Lillian Exum Clement House on Hollywood Street is now preserved thanks to Wingate Anders. He is the current owner of the house and Widower of Lillian's only daughter.

Anders made a donation of a  preservation easement to ensure the house stands intact for future generations.

"I just felt like it was the right thing to do... not only to remember Exum... to remember a very exceptional family that lived here," said Anders.

The house was built back in 1914 by George Clement, Lillian's father.
