Protecting Your Pets In The Cold
During the winter months, cold and wet weather can pose a real risk for our pets. The Asheville Humane Society have a few tips to keep your dogs and cats warm.
- Limit their time outside.
- When you do take them outside, make sure they have a coat, just like you.
- Ice melt on the sidewalks can be dangerous if your pet ingests it. Make sure to wipe their paws off.
As for primarily outdoor pets, make sure there is some kind of outdoor shelter with a door to block the wind and bedding inside to keep them warm. Plus, continually check their outdoor water supply to make sure it doesn't freeze.
