Swannanoa Home Invasion
Buncombe County Sheriff's detectives are interviewing what they're describing as "persons of interest" in connection with a home invasion. One man was wounded during an early morning break-in. It happened on Creole Court in Swannanoa, just after 5 a.m. Monday. The victim tells investigators his door was kicked-in and that he was shot. Authorities say home invasion is among the most frightening crimes.
"It's probably the worst fear that people have, that it could happen to them in their homes. Somebody breaking into their home, armed, with an intent to do harm to somebody or to rob them," said Sheriff Van Duncan.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim, who's being treated at Mission Hospital. They say his gunshot wound is non-life threatening.
