Nighttime Road Conditions in Asheville
On Hendersonville road at I-40 tonight drivers are moving slowly knowing it's the best way to avoid an accident. Many areas of main roads around Asheville are ice covered and many side roads are snow packed.
"It's been non-stop, call after call," said Trooper Craig Harris, with North Carolina's Highway Patrol who was working Tuesday night.
"Roads are slick. They're icing over especially your secondary roads."
"I lost control on the ramp," said Joe Carreiro who was stuck on Hendersonville road waiting for more than three hours for a tow after his
Honda Fit spun out on the off ramp at I-40.
"My front tires hit the curb and I lost my steering."
"We've got four trucks rolling on the road," said Tim Lands with Fast lane towing from Weaverville. He was on calls all Tuesday as the snow fell.
"We've had a couple of rollovers and vehicles on their sides."
He has some great advice for drivers Wednesday morning.
"Stay slow and don't hit the brakes everyone gets scared and wants to hit the brakes and that just makes you slide."
