The predicted snow and cold Thursday night have the homeless seeking shelter tonight.
Haywood County's shelter can accommodate about 23 people.
They're picked up at the Open Door in Waynesville and the Community Kitchen in Canton.
Open Door Director Perry Hines says with the expected weather, it's not uncommon for the shelter to fill up.
"We're able to feed them an evening meal and then they go out to the shelter and they have a devotional out there. The lights go out at 10 p.m. back here the next morning for breakfast," said Hines.
Hines says if they run out of room, they can often find a motel room for a family in need, or more space at shelters in nearby counties.
