The cold weather means an increase in demand for many mountain charities. The need for supplies sparked an urgent request from the employees at G.E. Aviation, to lend a land.
Today, employees kicked off a drive at the Asheville plant. They're collecting donations and gathering supplies to donate to the Salvation Army. Asheville Plant Manager, Michael Meguiar, says the drive is a reflection fo the employee's support for the local community. "We've already gotten several hundred dollars of donations and we're going to be collecting blankets, coats and gloves through the end of the week." Meguiar says the employees can simply bring items to work to donate and several drop-offs will be made throughout the week at the Salvation Army.
If you would like to donate items, you can drop them off at the Salvation Army's Asheville Center of Hope at 204 Haywood Street, Asheville, 28801
