Blind Bowling Tournament
The Asheville Smokies Blind Bowling League held its second annual tournament at Star Lanes in Asheville this weekend.
Most of the competitors have limited sight, or are legally blind, and have to listen for the sound of a strike.
Dozens of bowlers from across the state participate in the one-day event. They defy the odds, with a little help down the lanes.
Evin Tillery, Asheville Smokies president, "the difference between the sighted bowler and a blind bowler is we do use rails to help line us up on the alleys, but pretty much we can do anything a sighted bowler can do."
The Asheville Smokies Blind Bowlers meets twice a month at Star Lanes to socialize and work on their technique.
