UPDATE: Father Charged With Abuse
The father that turned himself into authorities Tuesday is out of jail on $10,000 bond and today took out a restraining order against his wife, who he is recently separated from.
Tony Stepp says his wife Makayla was harassing him overnight, and sending threatening text messages. Deputies say the order does not impact their investigation. Makayla Stepp is not charged and the Henderson County Sheriff's Office says no charges are pending against her, after her infant daughter was taken a doctor with a fractured leg.
Investigators say they do not believe step intended to injure the child, but that, based on evidence collected in interviews, it likely happened while the 21-year-old father was changing the baby's diaper.
The little girl was taken away from Tony Stepp and his wife after
suspicious injuries were discovered along the 3 month-old's arms and
legs. There was also hemorrhaging behind her eyes.
A doctor at Mission Hospital declared the injuries as non-accidental. Stepp has denied he caused the child's injuries.
In December, Stepp and his wife together spoke and denied charges.
