Clyde Police Chief Resigns

The embattled police chief in Clyde has resigned.

Gerard Ball cited "personal reasons" Thursday when he met with the Board of Aldermen. Town officials say the resignation was effective immediately, but wouldn't comment further on the reason.

Ball was suspended without pay back in September for "personal bad behavior." Town leaders did not reveal why exactly Ball was punished, but did say they planned to monitor his behavior for the next year.
