Vegan Ice Cream Goes National
Teaming up with a national brand could be a sweet deal for an Asheville restaurant.
Chef Jason Sellers is known for his desserts at the vegan eatery Plant Restaurant on Merrimon Avenue. Their dairy-free ice cream is about to go national.
Amy's Kitchen is producing chocolate, vanilla, mint chocolate chip, and mocha chocolate chip out of their Oregon facility. One of "Amy's" cousins stopped by the restaurant last year, and fell in love with the coconut milk based concoction.
"We went through a dating process and thought it was a great match to have a company of the quality and size of Amy's wanting to work with us," said Alan Berger, co-owner of Plant Restaurant.
The product is already available at local Earthfare stores. The packaging includes the story of it's origin at Plant Restaurant in Asheville.
