I-26 Reopened After Crash
A tractor-trailer driver lost control of his big-rig, dumping his cargo along I-26 and stopping traffic for hours. It happened in the Westbound lanes near the Brevard Road exit. All lanes have been reopened.
Asheville Police say shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, the truck driver side-swiped the shoulder guardrail. That sent his water-tank tumbling about 50-feet down the embankment. He then swerved back out into traffic and collided with three other vehicles. One of them, a biofuel truck hauling cooking oil, crashed through the center-guardrail and into the median. There were no serious injuries in the wreck.
The tractor-trailer driver was cited for failure to reduce speed.
