In Memory of Hoffman

An Asheville video store responds to the shocking loss of an Oscar winning actor.

Orbit DVD on Haywood Road in West Asheville has a section devoted to Philip Seymour Hoffman. The actor died Sunday of a heroin overdose at the age of 46.

Every time customers rent one of his movies, the Orbit will match the rental fee and donate the cash to a local addiction charity.

"Consider him one of the best actors we've seen in our lifetime, so we want to do something about that. If we can help one person in memory of Hoffman that'd be great," said Marc McCloud of Orbit Video.

You can also donate cash to the cause in memory of Hoffman. The owner says he's gone through a wide range of emotions since hearing about the actor's death, including sadness for Hoffman's three children.
