The Upstate is getting ready for another round of winter weather. The threat of power outages is a big concern.

Inside Duke Energy's Wenwood Operations and Distribution Center, crews are busy picking and packing power equipment and supplies to ship across the Carolinas for the upcoming winter storm. The facility is not only the operations center for Duke Energy line crews serving Greenville, but also a supply chain distribution center.

At Greenville's Public Works supply site, crews are receiving shipments of sand and other supplies. Prepping their snow plows to be ready for the storm. Public works crews getting ready, spread salt and sand, two parts to one part, help raise freezing point of road once begins to fall.

There's lots of preparation going on and not just with equipment and supplies. Duke Energy actually has about a half-dozen full-time meteorologists on staff to try to predict where inclement weather will hit them the hardest.
