Henderson County Icy Roads
A treacherous morning for drivers in Henderson County. The snow fell steady, creating some dangerous driving.
Slush covered back roads while the interstate turned icy. The driver of a big rig smashed into a guard rail on the eastbound lane of Interstate 26.
"He just ran off the road, hit a little ice, and got trapped on top of the guard rail," said NC Highway patrol trooper Mark Corbin.
Crews quickly went to work throwing down salt on the slick spots all around the county. Buses sat idle while students got a snow day.
But those who had to get out and drive today found it treacherous. One driver took out a street sign on Little River Road. One of eight accidents reported by the Highway Patrol in this area.
"I did see a car that was in the ditch just a little ways down the road from us," said a resident of Kanuga road, Michele Frandozzi.
